Easter Garden Village Scene

Easter is coming up soon! Mattel has made so many little Easter dolls I had to do a scene picture with them. With the nice weather recently I was able to take the pictures outside :). Here they are having an Easter egg hunt. Enjoy!

Amusement Park Ryan

Kelly Club Amusement Park Ryan was one of the few brunette boy Kelly dolls Mattel made, I wish they made more! He's adorable with his freckles. My doll's hair is a little messy now, I think it might have originally had gel in it. He came with a cute pinwheel that can attach to his wrist.

Amusement Park Marisa

One of the earlier Kellys I received was Kelly Club Amusement Park Marisa! She comes with an ice cream cone she can hold.

Nostalgia and an Introduction to Kelly Stories

My friends and I played Kelly dolls for years together. We could just sit there and play all day! Eventually, the friend I played the most with and I didn't even need to have the dolls with us to play; we knew all their names and personalities by heart and could “talk play.” We talk played when we were in the car on the way to the activities we were in, on the phone, and walking around outside.  Our friendship was strong then because of our love for playing Kellys. We played with Barbies too, but mostly we pretended that the Barbies were the moms. I think we preferred Kellys over Barbies because they were the kids in the Barbie world, like us.

It’s been so long since I've really played pretend with someone; honestly, I think it’s sad that it isn’t really socially acceptable for adults to. I agree with Plato that “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”  It’s such a creative and stimulating activity to do. It seems that adults lose some of their creativity when they grow up and stop playing. Playing with another person creates a strong friendship and I think it even makes the play more creative since it requires sharing your ideas and putting them together.

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!

Some of my Valentine Kellys decided to pose for you on a LOVE sign...like how people do with the I amsterdam sign!

Olympic Snowboarder Belinda

Kelly Club Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002 Snowboarder Belinda!

Olympic Skier Lorena

Kelly Club Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002 Skier Lorena, aka Skier Lorena!

Olympic Hockey Tommy

Kelly Club Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002 Hockey Player Tommy, aka Hockey Tommy!

Olympic Figure Skater Kelly

Since today is the first day of the 2014 Winter Olympics, here is Kelly Club Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002 Figure Skater Kelly, or Skater Kelly for short! This set of Olympic Kelly dolls were the only ones made; unfortunately, Mattel never made any summer Olympic Kellys.

Skater Kelly is one of the few dolls with eyes painted to look to the side. Bumblebee Melody also has eyes painted that way. With her closed lips and eyes looking to the side, it gives me the feeling that she is modest, serene, and mature. She came in a beautiful blue and white netting skater dress with gold trim and gold sparkles. She has a gold metal with red white and blue stripes. She, Hockey Tommy, and the African American version of her are the first Kellys to come with ice skates! She's the only Olympic doll that doesn't have bendable knees.

Old Scene Pictures

I found some old pictures I took when I was younger and still had my doll house and all my Kellys set up. The quality isn't the best since I was using an older camera. They're cute so I thought I'd share them anyway. I was inspired by the Kattis Dolls website, she posted some really cute scene pictures a while ago.

The swimmer girls were hanging out in the pool and got scared when Patrick Star Tommy surprised them!
